SUMMARY: This Site Safety Coordinator will be assigned to a specific Transportation construction job site and play an integral role in the safety and success of the project. The Site Safety Coordinator will be the full-time night-shift Safety Representative on that project site until the completion of safety requirements at which point would be assigned to a new project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support safety efforts on this specific project and monitor field activities to verify the work being performed is compliant with Baker Electric site-specific safety expectations.
- Perform daily site safety observations by being in the field observing work crews 80% to 90% of the time.
- Conduct the Baker Electric site specific new to site orientation.
- Ensure implementation of the corporate and site-specific safety plan on a specific project.
- Track inventory of safety related supplies, such as PPE, Water, First-Aid Supplies and communication needs to the Site Superintendent and Safety Department.
- Assist field supervision with verification completion on equipment inspections.
- Make recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any company equipment, facilities, or machinery that is hazardous to employee safety or health.
- Assess the safety training needs and provide or coordinate site safety training.
- Assist site management with investigating all incidents.
- Act as a resource in conjunction with the Senior Site Manager to complete all required paperwork in regard to safety.
- Maintain all safety related documentation in a central location and contained in Safety Binders (safety observations, audits, permits, investigation, training, inspections, etc.)
- Coach project teams in effective hazard identification and correction of issues in accordance with site specific safety plan and the Baker Corporate Safety Process.
- Serve as company liaison with the GC safety team, Cal OSHA, Insurance carriers and other regulatory agencies as needed.
- Attend site safety related meetings and daily huddles.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:
- 2 – 5 years of fulltime (HSE) health, safety and environment experience
- Safety function experience in construction, Transportation-Traffic Control, electrical preferred
- Work Zone safety
- OSHA 30 minimum required
- BCSP Safety certificate a plus
- Ability to spend significant time on a specific site
- TCT and/or TCS Training Preferred
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA/Cal OSH regulations
- Proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook
- Proven ability to conduct research, gather and compile data and information.
- Proven ability to implement policies, procedures and perhaps most importantly, the ability to facilitate change.
