We’re looking for a Remote Unit Secretary to support our healthcare team in a flexible, retiree-friendly role. This part-time, remote position is perfect for retirees seeking to stay active in the healthcare field without the physical demands of traditional office work.
In this role, you’ll assist with scheduling, handling patient calls, maintaining records, and providing administrative support—all from the comfort of your home.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle incoming calls from patients, families, and medical staff, and direct them to the appropriate team members.
- Assist in scheduling patient appointments, tests, and follow-up visits, ensuring all relevant information is accurately documented.
- Prepare and maintain accurate patient records, including admission forms, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
- Communicate with patients and their families, providing information regarding appointments, medical procedures, and insurance details.
- Update patient data into the electronic health record (EHR) system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in generating reports related to patient care, departmental activities, or administrative tasks as needed.
- Organize and maintain physical and digital files, ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations (HIPAA).
- Assist other healthcare staff with administrative duties as required, including maintaining office supplies, coordinating meetings, and assisting with document preparation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Degree in medical administration or related field is a plus).
- Prior experience as a Unit Secretary, Medical Secretary, or in a similar administrative healthcare role is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable using remote communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) or other medical documentation systems is a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
- Retired or semi-retired professionals with experience in medical administration are encouraged to apply.
Pay: $24.08 - $29.80 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
