Position Overview:
We are seeking a Medical Records Reviewer (Researcher) to join our team. In this role, you will conduct detailed medical record reviews, manage data entry, and compile critical information to support Psychological Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and Independent Medical Opinion evaluations. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and comprehensive assessments of mental health conditions.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, empathetic, highly detail-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative yet independent work environment. A background in medical administration, psychology, social work, or a related healthcare field is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough medical record research, summarizing findings to support Psychological Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and Independent Medical Opinion evaluations, with a case review rate of 8–10 per clinic day.
- Document claim evidence from Department of Veteran Affairs medical records, managing individual records ranging from 100 to 10,000 pages with precision.
- Analyze mental health records and compile veteran eligibility information, ensuring compliance with VA policies and data confidentiality.
- Perform data entry and manage veteran medical history in a digital database to assist providers in delivering informed evaluations.
- Identify and correct data inconsistencies, maintaining the accuracy and integrity of patient records.
- Research and document clinical findings to support DSM-5-based psychological diagnoses.
- Organize and maintain detailed electronic files for psychological evaluations, ensuring accessibility and adherence to confidentiality standards.
- Collaborate with the provider to enhance data workflows, improving efficiency and quality.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Required: Experience with DSM-5 terminology (minimum 1 year).
- Required: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
- Required: Proficiency in data entry, record management, and navigating complex medical information.
- Required: Familiarity with HIPAA and managing confidential information.
- Required: Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a mental health or clinical-related field.
- Preferred: Background in medical administration, psychology, social work, or related healthcare fields.
- Preferred: Experience working with medical records.
