Weekdays: $6.50/hr.
Weekends: $8.00/hr.

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, Hampstead Hospital has a full-time vacancy for Safety Ambassador Coordinator.
SUMMARY:
Performs tasks for the safety and security of the child and adolescent patients and staff within the Hampstead Hospital and Residential Treatment Facility (HHRTF). Ensures the safeguarding of the HHRTF building, materials, and equipment against fire, trespassing, theft, and other hazards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts specific safety/security checks daily at the beginning of each shift, to include keeping time logs, turning lights on and off, and ensuring that doors are properly locked.
Conducts daily inspections of the facility’s physical plant and interior building areas for elopement risk, hazardous conditions and physical plant/maintenance issues on each shift.
Performs continuous safety/security rounds of all areas of the interior facility to ensure a safe and secure environment free of potentially dangerous situations, to include monitoring ingress and egress points for staff and patients.
Completes reports pertaining to safety/security duties, facility incidents and others of subject matters, as required.
Monitors and operates video surveillance equipment of physical plant in accordance with Patient Observation policies.
Coordinates and ensures effective and professional communications with State of New Hampshire Department of Safety, external security, and various other outside agencies and individuals.
Notifies State Police or other agencies when assistance is needed.
Provides emergency responses, along with clinical and medical members of the treatment team, to address patient safety, which may include calming patients' disruptive and/or violent behaviors or threats of self-harm or harm to others. Acts professionally and as a role model for patients especially during crisis or conflict.
Responds appropriately and effectively to physical and verbal altercations between patients. Employs use of verbal de-escalation techniques to modify or control patients' disruptive behaviors rather than physical force whenever possible.
Participates in all required education and training required to ensure all duties will be performed in compliance with HHRTF policies, procedures, and protocols.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or technical institute with a study in sociology, psychology, human services, behavioral science, social work, education, liberal studies, theology, or criminal justice. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Two years’ experience working in organized group activities such as camp counseling, Boy or Girl Scouting, school or church programs, coaching sports, working with mentally and physically challenged youths and adults in a school, daycare, hospital or correctional/rehabilitative setting or any similarly related experience. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification:
CPR Certification (within 3 months of hire)
CPI Certification (within 3 months of hire)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior work experience with psychiatric patients in a hospital or secure mental health setting preferred, with a focus on patient safety.
