Job Description:

The Utility Cleaner is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of facilities through regular and scheduled cleaning services. This role includes waste removal, space cleaning, floor care, and maintaining the cleanliness of restrooms, kitchens, and other designated areas. The Utility Cleaner must comply with all safety regulations and pathogen exposure control standards.
General Cleaning Services:
o Perform daily cleaning tasks to ensure facilities are clean and hygienic.
o Follow specified cleaning frequencies as outlined in the service schedules.
o Protect the integrity of surfaces, finishes, and floor coverings using appropriate cleaning techniques and products.
2. Waste and Recycling Management:
o Empty waste and recycling containers, ensuring they are clean and liners are replaced as needed.
o Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables from designated areas and move them to collection points.
o Ensure no waste or recyclables are left behind or dropped during the removal process.
3. Space Cleaning:
o Clean all assigned spaces, ensuring they are hygienic and tidy.
o Return furniture and other items moved during cleaning to their original positions.
4. High and Low Area Cleaning:
o Clean low areas up to 7 feet, including furniture, fixtures, partitions, radiators, equipment, hand railings, and light fixtures.
o Clean high areas above 7 feet, including overhead piping, light fixtures, and vents, ensuring all debris is removed.
5. Kitchenettes, Lunch/Break Room Cleaning:
o Clean and sanitize employee kitchenettes, lunch, and break rooms, including sinks, countertops, trash containers, cooking equipment, and dining areas.
o Refill soap and paper towel dispensers and ensure waste is properly collected and disposed of.
6. Restroom and Locker Room Cleaning:
o Clean and disinfect restrooms, showers, and locker rooms to ensure they are sanitary and free of offensive odors.
o Stock restrooms with necessary supplies like toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
o Remove all graffiti from restroom surfaces.
7. Floor Care:
o Perform sweeping, dust mopping, damp mopping, spray cleaning, buffing, stripping, coating, and deep cleaning of floors to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
o Move and return furniture and rugs as necessary during floor care operations.
o Post warning signs and barricades in areas of floor care operations to ensure personnel safety.
8. Window and Glass Cleaning:
o Clean interior and exterior windows, ensuring surfaces are free of dirt and streaks.
o Clean window blinds and ensure they are operational and in their original positions.
9. Building Perimeter Services:
o Maintain the cleanliness of the building perimeter, including porches, patios, sidewalks, and designated smoking areas.
o Remove debris from the building perimeter and deposit it in designated waste containers.
Job Requirements:
Certification, Training, and Licensing:
- Receive pathogen training prior to beginning service if exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
- Comply with OSHA standard 29 CFR-1910.1030 and maintain an Exposure Control Plan.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in custodial or janitorial work.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and safety regulations.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and machinery.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- Must possess valid driver’s license
- Pursuant to Government Contract, you must be a U.S. citizen.
Current TS/SCI preferred, must possess minimum TS Clearance with ability to obtain SCI
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and supplies.
- Capable of standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position; may require working evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- Work in a variety of environments including indoor and outdoor settings.
