Our team is dedicated to excellence, precision, and collaboration, and we are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Construction Safety Manager to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in construction safety protocols/procedures, and experience/knowledge of California OSHA laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
Safety Program Leadership & Compliance
- Review, develop, and implement company-wide safety policies, programs, and procedures in accordance with OSHA/Cal/OSHA requirements.
- Own and maintain required written programs (IIPP, Heat Illness Prevention, HazCom, Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection, Emergency Action, etc.) and ensure they are current and field-ready.
- Establish safety goals and leading/lagging indicators; report trends and performance to leadership (TRIR/DART, near-miss reporting, audit scores, corrective action closure).
Field Execution & Coaching
- Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to integrate safety into planning and production (pre-task planning/JHAs, AHAs, site-specific safety plans).
- Conduct routine and special audits/inspections; document findings, assign corrective actions, verify closure, and provide field coaching.
- Maintain stop-work authority for imminent hazards and support operations in rapid, practical hazard mitigation.
Roofing & Waterproofing Hazard Controls
- Lead fall protection planning and enforcement (guardrails, PFAS, anchor points, tie-off compliance, rescue planning/drills).
- Manage hot work controls for torch, kettle, and related operations (permits, fire watch, fire prevention, extinguishers, end-of-day checks).
- Implement HazCom and chemical exposure controls for primers/solvents/PMMA and other systems (SDS library, labeling, storage, ventilation, PPE, spill response).
- Support silica and dust controls for concrete restoration and prep activities (wet methods, HEPA vacs, compliance documentation).
- Oversee ladder/scaffold/aerial lift safety including inspections and authorized user expectations.
Training & Documentation
- Deliver site-specific orientations and toolbox talks; tailor content to roofing, waterproofing, concrete restoration, and sheet metal risks.
- Build and maintain a role-based training matrix; coordinate and track required certifications (OSHA, fall, lifts, scaffold, silica, respirator, CPR/First Aid, etc.).
- Maintain records for training, inspections, incidents, near-misses, corrective actions, permits, and compliance documentation; ensure audit-ready files.
GC / Subcontractor Coordination
- Serve as liaison between General Contractors, clients, and subcontractors to ensure alignment with project safety requirements, documentation, and site rules.
- Support preconstruction safety planning and jobsite start-up (SSSPs, JSAs, emergency procedures, site logistics, access, and sequencing).
Incident Response, OSHA, and Workers’ Compensation
- Lead incident response and root cause investigations; develop corrective actions and verify closure.
- Interface with OSHA/Cal/OSHA as required: support inspections, manage documentation requests, assist with citation responses, and track abatement/corrective action plans.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation processes: timely reporting, claim documentation support, communication with carriers/TPAs, and return-to-work / modified duty coordination.
- Analyze incident and claim trends and implement prevention strategies to reduce frequency and severity.
Operations Support (Office, Yard, Fleet)
- Oversee safety aspects of field and office operations including yard/warehouse practices, PPE issuance, equipment inspections, and fleet safety expectations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Certifications & Experience
- OSHA 30 (required).
- 5+ years of construction safety experience; roofing and/or waterproofing experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of California OSHA laws and documentation requirements; experience maintaining a compliant IIPP.
- Experience supporting OSHA/Cal/OSHA inspections, documentation requests, and corrective action/abatement processes.
- Experience supporting workers’ compensation claims, incident documentation, and return-to-work / modified duty programs.
Preferred Credentials
- OSHA 500/501 certification (preferred) or ability to obtain.
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
- CHST/ASP/CSP (preferred).

- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); comfortable with tracking systems and reporting.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to jobsites across Northern CA, Southern CA, and Nevada.
