Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives within our trucking operations. In this vital role, you will develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs that promote a culture of safety excellence across all facets of our fleet and logistics activities. Your expertise will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while fostering a safe working environment for drivers, warehouse staff, and administrative personnel. Duties
- Develop and maintain safety policies aligned with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations, and other relevant laws
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all trucking operations and facilities
- Lead incident investigations by performing root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and prevent recurrence
- Coordinate training & development programs on safety procedures, emergency response (including CPR and first aid), and regulatory compliance for all employees
- Manage workers' compensation claims process in accordance with workers' compensation law, ensuring proper documentation and reporting
- Prepare detailed reports on safety performance metrics, incident trends, and compliance status for management review
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback, conducting safety meetings, and updating protocols as needed
Experience
- Proven experience in occupational health and safety management within the transportation or manufacturing industry
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers' compensation law, EPA standards, and EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) practices
- Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis and report writing with clarity and precision
- Prior experience developing and delivering effective training programs related to workplace safety
- Certification in CPR, first aid, or related emergency response training is highly desirable
- Familiarity with OSHA recordkeeping requirements and safety management systems is essential
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, regulatory agencies, and senior leadership
