MajorDuties
As a Health Scientist you will: Consult and collaborate with statistical, data science, artificial intelligence (e.g., machine learning), and public health professionals in the collection, linkage, processing, coding, classification, and analysis of public health surveillance, research, response, and/or administrative health data. Implement objectives, policies, and priorities for data science quality to ensure compliance with current emerging regulatory monitoring requirements, quality standards and accreditation requirements. Conduct data quality reviews according to procedural criteria established in quality review plans. Assist in the development of proposals and projects, defining the scope and intent of the projects, the data to be used, the analytic approaches and methods, technology resource requirements, timelines, and significant milestones, and intended outputs. Assist in monitoring data quality issues as they relate to user data products and collaborate with Informatics and Information Technology professionals to develop automated systems and tools to process, clean, and verify data integrity. Provide analysis and support data interpretation to both technical expert and lay users of public health data that include structured and unstructured data, such as free text, images, and data of mixed types. Collaborate with other professionals within and outside the Center in the conduct of surveillance, research, and analytical studies. Support the preparation of scientific articles, technical reports, and data files for publication or other public dissemination.
Education

Due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) process enhancement to use Shared Certificates throughout the Agency, some of the requirements below may differ: US Citizenship required. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
