Job Title: Safety Coordinator
Pay Grade: Grade 8
Salary: $80,136 Entry $100,008 Midpoint $119,880 Maximum
Department: Enterprise Support
Reports to: Enterprise Support Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary: The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for creating and overseeing safety protocols ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The Safety Coordinator will take a proactive approach to risk management and build a culture of safety within the organization. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with various departments to promote safe practices and minimize workplace hazards.
Responsibilities:
- Create, implement and manage an on-going safety program.
- Promote a culture of safety consciousness and awareness throughout the organization.
- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and standards.
- Develop, implement and maintain a health and safety policy handbook.
- Provide progress reports on safety activities, safety reports, and safety studies.
- Ensure records of occupational injuries and illnesses are maintained and reported as required by OSHA regulatory standards.
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control systems, policies and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
- Compile, analyze, interpret and report accident/injury data using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques.
- Develop, implement and maintain a safety policy handbook.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and provide corrective action.
- Ensure first aid/safety equipment is replenished including but not limited to first aid supplies, fire extinguishers, and PPE.
- Collaborate with other departments to support safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide training to staff and new hires on safety initiatives.
- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and develop corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance requirements are met throughout the organization.
- Organize safety awareness campaigns, workshops, and activities to engage employees.
- Serve as a resource for employees seeking guidance on safety-related matters.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Knowledge of facility operations.
- Associate’s degree and 3+ years of experience working in a dedicated safety role or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
- Relevant certifications, such as OSHA, BCSP, CPR / First Aid.
- Excellent knowledge of safety regulations and recognized safe work practices.
- Experience with OSHA record keeping, reporting and Method of Procedure (MOP) writing.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft tools – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule in a team-based environment and provide on-premises support 24/7/365.
- Must be able to pass requirements for approval for an ATL badge with customs seal. This includes a 10-year background search by fingerprint analysis.
- Valid Driver's License.
