Summary
EHS: Utilizes resources/skills to support site(s) environmental, health and safety activities to maintain compliance with government environmental and safety regulations. Develops, implements, maintains and improves a variety of Environmental, Occupational Safety and Health Programs. Supports a Uninterrupted Power Source (UPS) design and installation operation using battery technology as the source of power.
Training: Responsible for maintaining a training curriculum in accordance with the “IEEE Recommended Practice for Personal Qualification for Installation and Maintenance of Stationary Batteries”, applicable to Sure Power applications. Provides all EHS training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors and ensures compliance with regulatory standards including OSHA standards and environmental regulations for local, state and federal programs.
Investigates or reviews investigation of health and safety related incidents to determine root causes and develop and implement recommendations for prevention. Manages insurance claims.
Develops and provides occupational safety and health training to a wide variety of staff including managers, supervisors and employees.
Prepares reports and oversees health and safety records.
Analysis of health and safety data to target injury prevention programs.
Maintains current information in the field of occupational safety and stays informed on State, Federal and local legislation related to occupational safety.
Develops, maintains, reviews, and revises occupational safety policies and procedures.
Reviews safety data and other information to identify areas of risk and make recommendations for improvement.
Conducts health and safety inspections to identify hazards and recommend controls.
Oversees client pre-evaluation as it relates to ESH.
Chairs the State certified Safety Committee.
Develops, maintains and implements Emergency Preparedness activities, including hazardous materials training and response.
Develops and implements motor vehicle incident prevention programs.
Provides technical advice on environmental, health and safety issues.
Maintains fire protection systems and equipment, mitigates building fire hazards.
Performs site visits and evaluations.
Oversees environmental compliance/recycling program.
Collaborates with clients on safety concerns including, writing JHA’s and AHA’s
Evaluates work operations and selects appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and other equipment.
Oversees hazardous waste program to ensure compliance with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act by maintaining inventory of wastes, coordinating disposal, and managing the accumulation area.
Provides focused technical expertise to promote workplace and product safety by identifying and monitoring potential hazards to people or property
Reviews and characterizes the environmental, health and safety aspects of new projects and equipment.
Offers technical expertise to internal and external customers.
Writes reference procedures and standard operating procedures.
Manages Worker’s Compensation program
Organizes, plans and executes class training sessions for all of Sure Power employees. Will also create consistency of content in training sessions.
Oversees training in all key areas: battery install, pm maintenance, rentals, materials handling, safety, etc.
Coordinates practical training with operations.
Manages and maintains training records and LMS
Develops and provides training analytics in order to evaluate proper application of the training programs.
Must participate and successfully complete all training as required by the company.
Performs other duties as assigned
Education, Skills, and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (ESH, engineering or related field) with 7 years ESH experience or equivalent, coupled with a proficient level of training skills. CSP certification preferred. Ability to be certified as a Forklift trainer, Red Cross Instructor, and OSHA Outreach Trainer. Must be proficient in understanding and application of OSHA, EPA, DOT, GMP, DHS, FMCSA, NFPA and workers comp regulations and concepts. Knowledgeable and proficient in material handling, HAZCOM, fall protection, technical writing, lockout, spill response, driving safety, learning and training. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) plus the ability to learn company used applications. Knowledge of electronic and mechanical concepts, including troubleshooting, is highly desired.
