This position is supporting a project located near Redding, California and the Project Safety Manager must be onsite at the very beginning of November. We are hiring immediately for this position.
Summit Health, Safety, and Industrial Hygiene Services (www.summithsih.com) is seeking a project based full-time Project Safety Manager for a project starting the first week of November, 2024 and ending the first week of March, 2025. This position will require the Project Safety Manager to be onsite during all construction activities. We are hiring immediately for this position.
This position will pay $65.00 per hour plus overtime and include hotels, per-diem, a rental vehicle, and a mobilization/demobilization plane ticket. The individual must provide their own laptop and cell phone.
Work is anticipated to be 40-60 hours per week as needed and the Project Safety Manager must be onsite for any needed support, this is not an office based position. Overtime will be required. The project is located in Northern California. We would prefer to subcontract this position through an individual that has an LLC or we will hire direct.
This position must function with a high degree of autonomy. The position will involve:
· Responsible for day to day implementation of the Contractor’s Safety Program.
· Full authorization to correct unsafe acts on the spot.
· Prepare safety inspection reports.
· Onsite during any and all construction activities.
· Review and approve the Contractor’s Safety Program prior to submittal.
· Develop the rescue/recovery plan.
· Responsible for day to day implementation of the Contractor’s Safety Program.
· Responsible for effectively implementing the Contractor’s Safety Program.
· The Safety Representative shall coordinate all emergency response activities.
· Recommend controls for observed hazards or predicted hazards.
· Full authorization to correct unsafe acts on the spot, including the authority to stop work to correct safety and health problems.
· Lead weekly safety meetings at the jobsite.
· Onsite, during any and all construction activities.
· Assemble, review, and sign each Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
· Review of JHA with employees.
· Verify the correct use of respiratory protection and personal protective equipment.
· Conduct and prepare weekly safety inspections in conjunction with the onsite government representative listing noted deficiencies, their abatement dates, follow up action. The report shall be available for review onsite.
· Provide direct oversight and assemble a detailed report of all incident reviews, near-misses, accidents, and emergency response or rescue actions.
· Provide additional miscellaneous safety or industrial hygiene support as needed.
This individual must have significant experience in OSHA programs, construction safety auditing, and have a strong ability to use Microsoft software. This individual should be well versed in editing and writing documents. Professional Safety Management experience in the construction industry is required.
A bachelor’s degree is required in Safety and Health Management or a similar technical field and a minimum of five years of professional Safety Management experience is required. A graduate degree and a CSP, ASP, or CHST certification is preferred.
