Job Description: Environment Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator
Location: Brownsville, TX
GD Energy Services is looking to add an experienced EHS Coordinator to our growing company.
Summary: The position ensures and promotes Safety First culture in the wind farm & organization. The primary purpose is to provide support functions to our operations by promoting occupational health awareness, eliminating hazardous activities by monitoring behaviors and emphasizing safety policies. The EHS coordinator will spread safety (OSHA) awareness, be knowledgeable in all OSHA regulations, diligent, analytical, detailed, and be sensitive towards potential dangers.
Responsibilities:
- Drive cultural change within GDES and improve performance as it relates to safety.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures for GDES.
- Ensure safety program and training documentation is current to industry standards and maintain a log with expirations dates to Administration.
- Perform routinary field audits at our customers’ job site to ensure compliance with safety practices and equipment and reports findings back to the team & management.
- Observe behaviors and habits at wind farms to verify effectiveness of training concepts, identifying gaps for improvement and reports back to team.
- Ensure employees are trained in safe work practices, hazards, required PPE and develop and implement periodic safety campaigns.
- Responsible for responding to incidents during non-working hours.
- Act as a resource and subject matter expert for employees in matters relating to occupational safety.
- Educate & oversee employees on health & safety procedures & regulations
- Handle OSHA visits, inspections, and inquiries.
- Work with managers, supervisors, and field personnel to ensure employees are aware of how to work safely and build and maintain a strong safety-minded culture.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant legal rules & regulations
- Maintain thorough knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations as well as EHS standards.
- Maintain OSHA 300 record. Investigate, interview and document incidents/ accidents and reports back to team and maintain worker’s compensation claims.
- Monitor incidents to determine root cause trends to guide the business in action planning based upon trends. Reduce injuries and illnesses by improving safety culture.
- Partner with HR in conducting new hire orientations.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 -2 years of work experience as EHS coordinator
- BS in Health and Safety related discipline, or similar preferred.
- OSHA or similar EHS certification
- Hands on experience in performing field audits & reports writing.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant OSHA regulations
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
