As a Process Safety Manager at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible the development, implementation, and sustainment of the Process Safety Management (PSM) Program. It is important to successfully collaborate with a team of process safety engineers, safety professionals, industrial hygienists, and other team members to support and/or lead various projects, and initiatives sought at identifying, mitigating, and handling risks at this site. A strong understanding of Risk Based Process Safety (RBPS), Occupational, Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Process Safety Management (PSM), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Risk Management Program (RMP) compliance regulations, or ability to become knowledgeable, will be required to be successful in this position.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Implement and Support PSM and Initiatives:
- Supervise changes to procedures, equipment or processes for potential safety impacts and need for mitigation, critical issue or further analysis
- Collaborate with site EHS, Facility, and Fab Engineers to define and implement process safety solutions and strategies for controlling process hazards associated with chemistries, tools, and facilities systems
- Support Incident Investigation when Process Safety is involved
- Support implementation of process safety improvements to process systems and equipment identified by sites and review process safety impacts from new product introduction (NPI) transfers
- Lead, implement, or participate in development of OSHA and RBPS PSM programs projects and initiatives, as applicable
Collaborate to Assess and Mitigate Risk:
- Support engineering teams through process safety audits and detailed reviews of chemical and tool safety for new or changed processes, chemicals, or equipment
- Conduct or participate in risk analysis or hazard identification by applying industry accepted techniques such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HazOp) and other standard methodologies
- Work with engineering teams to build and implement solutions for mitigating or controlling identified hazards and risks
- Support transfer teams by completing Safety Release Documents (SRDs), Flammability studies and other hazard analyses during technology transfers
Manages Process Safety Metrics and Measures:
- Lead hazard review findings and supervise to closure
- Maintain and report on metrics and key performance indicators to supervise health and progress of the process safety program
- Drive closure to gaps in process safety metrics
- Identify and characterize process hazards in processes, equipment, and technologies
Promote a Safe and Compliant Workplace:
- Maintain process safety information management including tool install documents, vendor safety bulletins or other industry process safety updates
- Act as a point of reference for the process and equipment personnel on potential safety problems
- Work with site teams to cultivate an environment of safety first when engaging in process or equipment maintenance activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or related field of study + 5 years related experience or
- Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in chemical engineering, chemistry or related field of study. Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting schematic drawings or similar technical renderings
- Shown success in leading projects and working with a multi-functional team
- Ability to develop and demonstrate a strong working relationship with various partners.
- Effective communicator possessing the ability to understand and communicate highly technical or sophisticated information with a broad audience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with extraordinary attention to detail
- Passion and dedication to employee health and safety, coupled with a high level of integrity to do what is right
- Sophisticated PC skills including proficiency in MS Office suite products
- Comprehensive understanding of chemistry associated with semiconductor manufacturing as it relates to safety hazards and prevention or mitigation of risk strategies.
- Strong candidates will have good knowledge of Risk Based Process Safety Management including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$124,500.00 - $217,500.00
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
