This temporary Environmental Health Data Analyst position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, Environmental Health Section, On-Site Water Protection Branch. The Environmental Health Data Analyst will function as a member of a data collection group with unique responsibility to evaluate the status of decentralized wastewater infrastructure in historically marginalized communities (HMCs) of Bladen and Scotland counties in North Carolina.
The candidate for this position will be traveling to local health departments (LHDs) to collect, organize, record and analyze LHD issued septic system permits (digitize/scan), collect geo-spatial data, and create housing on a septic system database and summarize them. This position may assist in education and outreach efforts related to community engagement.
The ideal applicant will have work experience and familiarity with the following:
- Experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel).
- Ability to use or learn to use GPS unit to collect physical data.
- Ability to apply knowledge of data collection and storage to compile, assimilate, and organize printed and electronic information.
- Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet work needs.
- Ability to follow instructions through a standard work process; performs routine tasks; checks work for accuracy before completion of tasks.
- Must have a valid NC Driver License
Education requirements: Graduate from a 4-year degree college or university preferred. or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience as related to knowledge, skills, and abilities in area of assignment.
The position ends 06/28/2025, with the potential for extension. The position will be part-time and primarily telework with occasional in-office visits.
