Environmental Health and Safety Engineer
Job Description:
MACOM designs and manufactures semiconductor products for Data Centers, Telecommunication, Industrial and Defense application. The focus of this position is to develop and maintain sustainable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) management system that ensure operational compliance with company, customer, and global governmental EHS rules and regulations. The primary objectives are to protect employees, customers and the environment by identifying, controlling or eliminating risks and hazards that could cause injury and illness or cause harm to the environment. The primary responsibilities of the EHS Engineer are to oversee, support, and ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, standards, and other requirements applicable to MACOM’s operations in North Carolina.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the EHS Manager in the review and update of environmental health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with all Federal, State, and local government regulations.
- Work to maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and municipal guidelines.
- Maintain hazard communication programs, Safety Data Sheets, and chemical inventory information.
- Responsible for Regulated Waste Management Programs for sites in North Carolina
- Gather data to assist with filing of EHS permits: Storm Water, Air, Hazardous Waste, Waste-Water Treatment, Fire Safety, an operating permits. Gather information and assist with reporting requirements.
- Conduct job hazard analyses and personal protective equipment reviews and assessments.
- Prepare training materials, and conduct training on EHS topics
- Lead injury and incident reviews, root cause analysis, and knowledge share communication.
- Support the Contractor EHS Management Program
- Lead Emergency Response Teams, conducting drills, developing response procedures, and team meetings
- Support Life Safety Programs
- Conduct EHS audits on a recurring basis. Identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Act as Radiation Safety Officer for multiple sites in North Carolina
- Act as Laser Safety Officer for multiple sites in North Carolina
- Lead Occupational Health Programs for site specific programs (Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation)
- May perform Industrial Hygiene exposure surveys
- Support the ISO 14001 program and its associated reporting requirements.
- Support multiple sites in North Carolina with the EHS Management System
Qualifications:
- CIH, CSP or equivalent professional certification an advantage
- Minimum of 1-4 years of related experience, 5-10 without
- Superior communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database applications (SAP a plus)
- Bachelor of Science Degree in the Environmental Health or Safety or related field
Experience:
- Experience with EHS regulatory agencies; e.g. EPA, OSHA
- Experience with hazardous materials (dangerous goods); includes storage and shipping
- Experience with dangerous substances; includes gases, solids, and liquids
- Experience in hazardous waste management and wastewater treatment
