The South Carolina Free Clinic Association (SCFCA) proposes to have AmeriCorps members who will serve as Community Health Workers (CHWs) in free clinics providing health and social services navigation. AmeriCorps members will be assigned a caseload of clients and are responsible for improving health outcomes through effective health coaching, conducting outreach efforts, and reducing barriers to care. Applicants must reside in or will reside in Beaufort County prior to the start of the program year. Applicants must be computer literate and computer proficient. Applicants should possess the ability to serve in a fast paced and diverse environment. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident. Unfortunately, DACA recipients are ineligible for acceptance into the program. SCFCA AmeriCorps CHW Program is an AmeriCorps State and National (ASN) Program. By federal statute, ASN Programs are only eligible to U.S. citizens, U.S. Nationals, or lawful permanent residents. However, DACA recipients are eligible for AmeriCorps VISTA.
