Job Summary
KHC Environmental is a growing erosion control and site services company seeking an HR & Safety Manager to oversee our human resources processes while helping lead and strengthen our company-wide safety program.
This is a hands-on role for someone with an HR background who is organized, proactive, and comfortable working with both office and field employees. The ideal candidate can manage recruiting and employee processes, maintain compliance, build practical systems, and work alongside Operations to create a strong culture of safety and accountability.
Previous HR experience is required. Safety experience is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources & Recruiting
- Manage recruiting, job postings, candidate screening, interviews, offers, hiring documentation, and onboarding.
- Work with company leadership to identify current and future staffing needs.
- Maintain accurate and organized employee records and documentation.
- Manage HR processes related to performance reviews, corrective actions, promotions, employee changes, and terminations.
- Provide managers with practical guidance on employee-related matters.
- Help ensure employee practices are consistent across the company.
- Maintain accurate employee information needed for payroll and other administrative processes.
- Assist with PTO, offboarding, and other employee administration.
- Help develop and improve HR processes as the company continues to grow.
Safety & Compliance
- Help lead and continuously improve KHC's company-wide safety program.
- Conduct regular jobsite safety audits and inspections.
- Work with Operations to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Coordinate new-hire safety orientation, required training, certifications, renewals, and training records.
- Maintain safety documentation and OSHA-related recordkeeping.
- Coordinate workplace injury, incident, and near-miss documentation and investigations.
- Assist with workers' compensation coordination and follow-up.
- Help maintain applicable driver qualification files, MVR requirements, drug and alcohol testing documentation, and renewals.
- Identify recurring safety issues and work with leadership to develop practical solutions.
- Ensure required HR and safety records remain organized, current, and audit-ready.
Required:
- Previous Human Resources experience
- Experience with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, and employee documentation
- Working knowledge of employment practices and HR compliance
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and follow-through
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee matters professionally
- Ability to work effectively with employees, field leadership, and company leadership
- Comfortable visiting active job sites as needed
- Ability to create, improve, and maintain processes in a growing company
Preferred:
- Previous workplace safety or OSHA compliance experience
- Construction, erosion control, or other field-based industry experience
- Experience with workers' compensation
- OSHA recordkeeping or incident investigation experience
- DOT/driver qualification compliance experience
- Safety training or OSHA certifications
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
