School Bus Safety Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive School Bus Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives for our student transportation operations. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a strong safety culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs for school bus operations
- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and state-specific regulations
- Investigate collisions/incidents and implement corrective actions
- Deliver safety training for drivers and operational staff
- Administer and monitor compliance with DOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing programs
- Maintain accurate safety records and prepare regulatory reports
- Collaborate with operations teams to address safety concerns promptly
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to drivers and staff to reinforce safe behaviors
- Promote a strong safety culture through meetings, communications, and engagement activities
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of transportation safety management experience (school bus or transit preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and state-specific regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements preferred
- Familiarity with telematics systems and safety reporting tools
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
