POSITION SUMMARY
The Safety Professional position requires experience in a similar safety role. There is an expectation of intermediate competencies, knowledge, and experience in safety (construction safety preferred). This position receives direction, guidance, and counsel from a Senior Safety Manager or above to complete short-term and long-term tasks and project level goals. The Safety Professional position plans, coordinates, and executes safety responsibilities as specified in project safety plans and the Barton Malow safety manual. The primary function of the Safety Professional position is to coordinate and manage safety at small to medium size or scope projects by managing and coordinating all project safety responsibilities, and effectively implement, execute, maintain, and document all safety efforts at such projects.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts daily safety inspections and audits on a project site. Corrects or abates basic hazards, unsafe acts, safety violations, or safety issues. Effectively addresses basic project safety concerns that may develop or exist. Consults Safety Manager or above to resolve any safety matters that are not basic or have project only implications.
- Executes project safety plans, Barton Malow safety manual policies and procedures, as well as OSHA standards on a project.
- May lead or facilitate safety meetings and orientations. Participates in project leadership meetings for the presentation and dissemination of project safety matters.
- Conducts and/or reviews inspections of machines, tools, equipment, vehicles, and safety equipment. Possesses Competent Person status for such equipment to determine proper action and disposition based on inspections.
- Leads or performs incident investigations for all types of incidents and compiles documentation and summaries of such investigations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- 3-5 years of construction safety experience in a similar role
- OSHA 510 certification preferred
- OSHA 30 certification
- Flexibility to travel to the project sites
