Scottsdale Eye Surgery Center (SESC) is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our team! The Sterile Processing Tech performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment at Scottsdale Eye Surgery Center. SESC is open Monday through Friday - no weekends, no major holidays. This position would be on a set schedule from 10:30am-7:00pm each day.
Responsibilities:
· Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment. Assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. Follows proper standard precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
· Monitors biological indicators for pre-vac sterilizers, as well as ETO sterilizer. Monitors chemical wash solution used in ultrasound units to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
· Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment and makes them available to sterile processing in a timely manner.
· Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
· Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment.
· Follows strict guidelines on instrument processing to prevent TASS.
Qualifications:
· Graduate of a recognized Sterile Processing Technician program. Certification in Sterile Processing preferred.
· BLS certification within 3 months of hire date.
· This position requires the ability to stand or remain in restricted quarters for long periods of time, manual dexterity to handle delicate instruments, and audio acuity to communicate effectively. Must be able to hear over equipment used in Sterile Processing Room.
· Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
