Eckerd College is currently seeking candidates for the position of Coordinator, Risk Management and Safety at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community.
In this position, you will provide administrative support to the Office of Risk Management and Safety, Campus Safety and Eckerd College Emergency Response Team (ECERT). Completing diverse assignments in a fast-paced environment is necessary. Responsibilities involve independent planning, coordinating, process management, and completing special assignments as directed. Requires analyzing situations, data, and requests, and independently decides the best course of action to address the matter. You will work closely with students, faculty and staff to establish and maintain a culture of safety, risk awareness and preparedness.
The role requires the incumbent to frequently move around campus, both indoors and outdoors, and access multiple levels of buildings. The ability to identify issues, determine their cause, develop creative solutions, and follow through with implementing resolutions. The incumbent should possess knowledge, training, and demonstrated ability in incident command.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Office of Risk Management and Safety, Campus Safety and Eckerd College Emergency Response Team (ECERT).
- Perform regular risk assessments across campus to identify potential risks, including operational, financial, legal, reputational, and compliance.
- Assist with review and audit of the College’s Document Retention Policy.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies by conducting compliance audits and reviews.
- Assist in conducting accident investigations and reporting claims in a timely manner.
- Oversee the College’s certificate of insurance database and reviews to ensure compliance.
- Manage the College driver approval process and oversee the College’s online training database to ensure compliance.
- Work collaboratively with other departments within the College to increase awareness, provide or facilitate regular training and exercise support to students, faculty, and staff as appropriate.
- Provide escorts to campus inspections for local and state inspections.
- Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining emergency management plans for various hazards, including natural disasters, man-made incidents, and public health emergencies.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or plus two years of relevant experience in a support role in public safety or risk management. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
