Position Description: The Safety and Fleet Specialist is a key figure in ECHO’s planned growth, working closely with Management to ensure the safety of ECHO’s staff is paramount and that ECHO’s fleet of vehicles is well maintained at all times. The Safety and Fleet Specialist is predominantly an office-based position that requires some travel across ECHO’s Florida offices. The Specialist will liaise daily with Management, Field Managers, and Supervisors ensuring all safety and maintenance programs are adhered to and correctly implemented.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development, review, updating, and communication of ECHO’s safety plans and procedures.
- Collaborate with the field-based staff and their supervisors to encourage buy-in of ECHO’s safety program and to support ownership of the safety program.
- Exercise and review Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies and plans.
- Assist with maintaining project files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and in compliance with ECHO’s policies including accident/injury files, safety training, orientations, and client-specific requirements.
- Assist with first aid capabilities, training, and monitoring.
- Assist with incident investigations and implementation of effective solutions.
- Complete regularly documented hazard inspections and assist operations with the implementation of corrective actions.
- Implement and ensure fleet management effectiveness of maintenance and repairs.
- Keep track of fleet inventory, maintenance records, vehicle custodian, mileage logs, and use of each vehicle.
- Assist Management in determining the useful life span of fleet vehicles.
- Provide consistent communications to Management.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience working in and around Power Plants, High Industrial Areas & Road and Bridge Environments.
- OSHA 30, 500 and 510 certifications is preferred.
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or the ability to obtain a CSP based on equivalent qualifications.
- Knowledge of construction safety, and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
- Certification as a Safety Professional
- Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Office products, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience working with electronic equipment management systems is preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirements.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
