We are seeking a passionate and experienced Bilingual Construction Safety Specialist & Trainer who is fluent in both English and Spanish to join our team.
The Construction Safety Specialist & Trainer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and delivering safety training programs in both English and Spanish for our construction workforce. This role will ensure that all employees and applicable subcontractors understand and adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and best practices to create a safe work environment and reduce on-site risks. This position requires a strong background in construction safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Deliver Training: Create and conduct safety training sessions in both English and Spanish for all levels of construction personnel, including new hires, supervisory staff, and experienced workers.
- Safety Compliance: Educate employees on OSHA standards, company policies, and construction safety best practices to ensure compliance and reduce workplace incidents.
- Training Materials: Develop, update, and maintain training materials, presentation, and handouts in both languages.
- Site Visits and Audits: Conduct regular on-stie safety audits and inspections to assess compliance, identify hazards, and reinforce safety practices.
- Customized Programs: Adapt training content to suit various roles and skill levels within the construction workforce, ensuring information is practical, accessible, and understandable.
- Incident Reporting: Participate in incident investigations and provide training on incident reporting procedures.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, certification renewals, and safety compliance metrics.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry regulations and safety standards to enhance training content and maintain the relevancy of training programs.
Position Requirements and Qualifications
- Fluent in both English and Spanish, with the ability to effectively communicate and deliver presentation in both languages, required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management, or related field preferred. 5+ years of relevant construction safety experience may be substituted in lieu of college degree.
- OSHA #500 or equivalent construction safety certifications.
- CHST is required, additional safety certifications are a plus (e.g., CSP).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction safety training, including developing and delivering training programs.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and site safety management.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and presentation software; experience with online training platforms is a plus.
- Availability to travel to SIW and Northeast Region as necessary for inspections/training – up to 25% travel.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt training methods to different learning styles and audiences.
