About the Role
Essity is looking for an experienced Sustainability Director to support our Professional Hygiene Business Unit. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the execution and activation of sustainability initiatives, ensuring they align with Essity’s overarching sustainability strategy. You will collaborate with global sustainability functions and Professional Hygiene Marketing leadership to craft and implement innovative strategies tailored to our diverse markets.
As the leader of the Professional Hygiene Sustainability Team, you will lead and coordinate all sustainability functions across the business unit, fostering a unified and impactful sustainability agenda. Your leadership will be instrumental in developing a team of dedicated marketing sustainability professionals, and you will represent Professional Hygiene in all internal sustainability forums at Essity.
Your mission will include integrating sustainability into all Professional Hygiene activities, promoting sustainable practices, and ensuring compliance with relevant certifications and legislation. You will also play a key role in educating our organization on technical sustainability topics, collaborating with internal stakeholders to deliver impactful training programs.
Additionally, you will support global supply chain initiatives, drive packaging and lifecycle management (LCM) projects, and provide expert guidance to product category teams on innovation and LCM efforts. Your expertise will be invaluable in assisting the Customer Marketing team with sustainability data, customer requests, and tenders.
The ideal candidate must reside in close proximity to a physical Essity location and be comfortable following a hybrid work schedule.

What You Will Do
- Partner with global sustainability functions and Professional Hygiene Marketing leadership to develop sustainability strategies for the different markets and drive the execution and activation of sustainability initiatives within the regions
- Lead the Professional Hygiene Sustainability Team in executing and activating sustainability initiatives within the business unit and coordinate all sustainability functions to drive a unified sustainability agenda
- Provide leadership and develop a team of marketing sustainability professionals
- Be the Professional Hygiene representative for all internal sustainability at Essity
- Ensure the integration of sustainability and promote sustainable practices and initiatives across the business unit
- Ensure compliance of product assortments with relevant certifications and legislation, monitoring and reporting on compliance status
- Develop and deliver educational programs to enhance sustainability knowledge and skills within the organization, securing training on technical sustainability topics in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Support and lead global supply chain initiatives for Professional Hygiene to execute packaging and lifecycle management (LCM) initiatives
- Assist product category teams with innovation and LCM initiatives, providing sustainability expertise and guidance during product development
- Support the Customer Marketing team with customer requests, tenders, and sustainability data
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree within Environmental science is preferred
- Proven experience in a senior sustainability role
- Strong knowledge of sustainability practices, certifications, and legislation
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects
