Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Site Safety Representative to join our team on a NYCHA construction project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment on construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) practices, risk management, and occupational health standards. The Site Safety Representative will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and construction teams to implement safety protocols and mitigate potential hazards.
Duties
- Conduct regular safety inspections of construction sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Develop and implement safety plans and procedures in accordance with NEC standards.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on safe work practices, emergency response procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with construction management teams to integrate safety measures into project planning using construction management software.
- Monitor compliance with workers' compensation regulations and assist in the investigation of accidents or incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
- Serve as a liaison between management, employees, and regulatory agencies regarding safety issues.
Qualifications (You must have the 5 bolded requirements below)
- Site Safety Manager 40-hr course and 7-hour Refresher every three years thereafter from a Department of buildings (DOB) approved vendor.
- 32-hour Supported Scaffold Erector course and 8-hour refresher every four years thereafter from a DOB approved vendor.
- 32-hour Suspended Scaffold Supervisor course and 8-hr refresher every four years thereafter from a DOB approved vendor.
- 30-hr OSHA Construction Safety course from a Department of Labor approved vendor within the last five (5) calendar years.
- 5 years of construction experience as either a field safety representative, foreman, or superintendent.
- Familiarity with construction management software is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, NEC standards, risk management practices, and occupational health principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively train others on safety protocols.
- Strong analytical skills to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
- Relevant certifications in safety management or related fields are advantageous.
