Position Summary
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all safety-related operations across projects and job sites. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, promotes a culture of safety, develops and delivers effective training programs, and drives continuous improvement in occupational health and risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all safety initiatives from project kickoff through completion, ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality expectations, and project schedules.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, NEC, and construction industry standards.
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance safety policies, procedures, and programs to minimize workplace hazards and support a strong safety culture.
- Conduct routine job site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Administer and oversee workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely reporting, documentation, investigation, and resolution.
- Coordinate and facilitate safety training programs covering workplace safety procedures, equipment operation, hazard recognition, and emergency response protocols.
- Design and deliver technical and compliance-focused training programs to support employee development, certifications, and industry best practices.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, making improvements to align with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate safety and training records within the company's HRIS and other reporting systems to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with Regional Directors, Operations Managers, Project Managers, Field Technicians, and clients to identify safety concerns, implement corrective actions, and support project-specific safety initiatives.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging best practices to ensure the organization remains compliant and proactive in safety management.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrence and improve workplace safety performance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, training coordination, construction safety, or a related field.
- OSHA 501 and/or OSHA 510 certification preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation preferred; willingness to pursue certification encouraged.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, compliance programs, and workplace safety management practices.
- Familiarity with construction industry safety standards, electrical safety requirements, and job site risk management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills with the ability to engage employees at all organizational levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation, training records, and regulatory compliance.
- Adaptability and responsiveness to evolving safety requirements, regulations, and operational needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HRIS platforms, including the creation of reports, training materials, and compliance documentation.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and company locations, with overnight travel required approximately 45-55% of the time.
