Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Hygienist 4 to support Environmental, Health & Safety operations within a heavy industrial/manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for recognizing, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards and environmental stressors that may impact employee health, safety, and operational compliance.
The selected candidate will provide technical leadership in industrial hygiene programs, conduct workplace exposure assessments, support regulatory compliance initiatives, and develop safety procedures and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical guidance in industrial hygiene and occupational health programs
- Evaluate workplace environments, operations, processes, materials, and equipment for potential health hazards
- Conduct exposure monitoring and assessments using appropriate industrial hygiene instrumentation and methodologies
- Analyze environmental and occupational exposure data and provide recommendations for corrective actions
- Develop and implement occupational health and safety procedures, standards, and reports
- Audit facilities, programs, and work practices for compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company standards
- Prepare written reports detailing findings, risk evaluations, and recommended improvements
- Support epidemiological studies and exposure trend evaluations
- Assist supervision and employees with health and safety training initiatives
- Review proposed standards, processes, and facility modifications for industrial hygiene impacts
- Mentor and train junior EHS and industrial hygiene personnel
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in a related field with 9 years of relevant experience
OR - Master’s Degree with 7 years of relevant professional experience
OR - PhD with 4 years of relevant professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification
- Experience in heavy industry, shipbuilding, manufacturing, or industrial operations
- Experience supporting government or DoD contracts/projects
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and occupational exposure standards
- Excellent technical writing, auditing, and communication skills
