Company: Vanquish Cancer.
Location: Remote / Work-from-Home
Job Type: Part-time, Contract (Hourly)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Practicing or Retired Endoscopist to serve as a Medical Consultant for our image-guided software development team. In this role, you will provide expert medical reads and high-precision annotations of Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) videos and images. Your expertise will directly influence the training of our support staff and the accuracy of our computer vision (CV) algorithms for EUS and cancer screening.
HIPAA Compliance and Data Safety - No PHI: All videos and images utilized in this project are either fully de-identified or sourced from publicly available datasets. They do not contain Protected Health Information (PHI).
Key Responsibilities
Your work will be divided into two primary objectives:
Objective 1: Expert Annotation & Ground Truth Training
- Review de-identified EUS case videos and images provided via shared OneDrive/Azure folders.
- Utilize CVAT (Computer Vision Annotation Tool) to perform high-fidelity annotations.
- Identify and trace anatomy of the Pancreas using polygon and pixel-edge tools. Classify each case according to clinical findings: Tumor (including staging where applicable), Cyst, or Normal.
Objective 2: Quality Assurance & Team Mentorship
- Objective 2 builds on Objective 1, for team training and development. Assess work based on the standards established in Objective 1.
- You will assess the work done by the team. Audit annotations and classifications performed by internal support teams.
- Label team-reviewed work. Score range from "Substantially Accurate" to "Meets Expectations" to "Falls Short of Expectations."
- Communicate clinical improvements and descriptive feedback to support teams to enhance their anatomical recognition.
Qualifications
- MD or DO with a specialization in Gastroenterology.
- Extensive experience in Interventional Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
- Significant tenure as a practicing physician; retired professionals are highly encouraged to apply.
- Expert-level ability to identify hepatobiliary and pancreatic anatomy via ultrasound.
- Technical Literacy: Comfortable using cloud storage (e.g. OneDrive) and web-based software. (Training for CVAT will be provided).
- Strong communication skills to articulate complex clinical nuances to technical teams.
To ensure you attract the right caliber of expert, you can add a "Requirements & Qualifications" or "Ideal Candidate" summary to your Indeed post. This helps filter out general gastroenterologists and targets those with the specific advanced training required for EUS.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist with specialized expertise in Advanced Interventional Endoscopy. We are specifically looking for an expert who meets the following criteria:
- Advanced Training: Completion of a dedicated 4th-year Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship (AEF) or equivalent documented mastery in Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
- Clinical Proficiency: Deep experience in pancreatobiliary imaging, with the ability to provide definitive "ground truth" identification of the pancreas, liver, and biliary tree.
- Procedural Mastery: Familiarity with the ASGE (American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) competency standards for EUS, specifically regarding the classification of tumors, cysts, and staging.
- Technical Savvy: Ability to translate clinical findings into digital annotations (polygons/pixel-edge) to assist in the development of cutting-edge medical AI.
Work Requirements
- Schedule: Flexible, hourly consulting.
- Data Integrity: While the project uses de-identified/public data, the consultant must maintain strict professional standards regarding data handling.
- Equipment: Reliable high-speed internet and a computer capable of streaming high-definition video.
