Primary Responsibilities
The Director of Safety is responsible for the development, oversight, support, management, and administration of the transportation safety and compliance program. The position will develop key performance metrics and assist site personnel in hitting those targets.
Essential Functions
- Manage safety program to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
- Development of training programs, subjects and materials.
- Conduct driver safety performance reviews, both unobserved and in person.
- Accident/injury investigation and remediation.
- Communicate and engage with Local Area Managers positioned around the country.
- Some travel required.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Management is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial transportation/trucking safety management.
- Individual must be well-versed in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products, in particular Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with on-board computer systems is required (we use Samsara).
- CSP safety certification or similar.
- CDL class A is preferred but not required.
