The Longistics team is looking for a professional and seasoned Fleet Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our Fleet team on the Night Shift working a 2, 2, 3 schedule.
Position Summary:
The Safety Specialist enhances our trucking safety program by implementing proactive strategies, enforcing compliance and fostering a culture of safety. This role involves conducting dock audits, reviewing Pre-Trip & Post-Trip inspections, investigating accidents and ensuring accurate safety reports. The position requires both office and field work, engaging directly with drivers to address safety concerns and maintain regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety, Compliance & Enforcement - Conduct dock audits, enforce FMCSA & DOT regulations and ensure accurate accident reporting
Driver Training & Engagement - Lead defensive driving, fatigue management and weather safety training, hold quarterly safety meeting and send weekly safety updates
Workplace Audits & Risk Management - Inspect loading docks and fleet operations to identify hazards and recommend improvements
Emergency Preparedness & Incident Response - Develop emergency protocols, train drivers on roadside emergencies and investigate accidents and near misses
Regulatory Readiness - Maintain safety records, prepare for FMCSA/DOT audits and ensure compliance with industry standards
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience in safety compliance, risk assessment or training in trucking/logistics. Strong knowledge of FMCSA, DOT and OSHA regulations. Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills. Must work well within a team environment. Use of Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc is needed.
