Are you interested in leading the way to mental wellness and recovery? The Division of Integrated Healthcare is looking for a Assistant Division Director for the Office of Substance Use and Mental Health.
The Director position directs and administers the Office of Substance use and Mental Health by:
- working under the direction and in collaboration with the Director, Division of Integrated Healthcare and the Executive Director of the Department of Health and Human Services,
- planning, developing and executing a statewide substance use and mental health system in conjunction with the Behavioral Health Commission,
- ensuring appropriate support for the Behavioral Health Commission,
- coordinating programs with other state, federal and local governmental agencies and private organizations to ensure these entities are advancing the objectives of the department, the Behavioral Health Commission and Utahns in need of behavioral health services,
- effectively integrating behavioral health activities with Utah Medicaid to ensure Utah’s Medicaid system is integrating the behavioral health and physical health needs of Medicaid members,
- holding subgrantees and contracted entities accountable for effective use of funding received,
- coordinating applications for federal funds,
- developing cooperative relationships with allied agencies and organizations,
- directing the planning and development of research programs for drug and alcohol and mental health issues,
- developing and implementing legislation that advances the objectives of Utah’s behavioral health system,
- utilizing data and evaluating programmatic outcomes to ensure Utah’s behavioral system is achieving desired results for the state,
- responsible for leadership and development of staff, and
- leading program direction and matters relating to mental health issues.

Responsibilities
- Sets goals, establishes priorities, manages resources, develops concepts and approaches, reviews projects progress and results; makes management decisions that align with the vision and values of the Utah Department of Health & Human Services.
- Develops and coordinates plans and policies, resources, and mission as well as goals, vision, and expectations of agency or program; prepares and updates plans and priorities.
- Evaluates, plans and directs activities of the organization.
- Monitors agency or program budget including revenues, expenditures and budget projection, etc.
- Oversees the development, evaluation or review of plans and criteria for a variety of activities; assesses feasibility of proposed plans, projects and equipment.
- Recommends, advocates and/or implements, new and or changes to existing policies and procedures, laws or regulations.
- Coordinates program activities, services, and/or program implementation with private providers, other governmental entities, program users, etc.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
- Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
- Represents agency interests on key legislative issues, task forces, committees, etc., and/or draft legislation, find sponsors, propose amendments, etc.
- Solicits funds from state and federal government and/or appropriate alternative funding sources.
Qualifications

Pay: $47.00 - $70.14 per hour
