Job Summary:
We are seeking a Part-Time Health and Safety Consultant/Construction Laborer to join our Fort Lauderdale, Florida team. This is dual role; the Consultant/Laborer will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on health and safety-related matters to our clients, as well assisting with labor required tasks. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently to provide clients with comprehensive and effective health and safety solutions and construction site labor support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consulting and Development
- Assist clients on site with all aspects of Health and Safety services
- Perform regular observations of all work areas on site to ensure physical conditions and behavioral conformance, provide observation reports to the appropriate personnel
- Assist clients by attending on site safety meetings and providing professional guidance on OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and construction regulation requirements
- Investigations and Prevention
- Conduct incident/accident investigations, determine the causes, and develop recommendations to prevent future occurrences
- Follow-up on implemented preventative and corrective measures to ensure accuracy and effectiveness
- Review corrective actions for non-conformance with site management in accordance with company policies, applicable regulations, and best practices
- Training and Communication
- Conduct on-site worker orientation with clients and relevant persons involved to review safety programs and procedures
- Conduct toolbox talks, and safety meetings as requested by the client
- Provide Health and Safety awareness training if and when necessary
- Load and unload heavy and light materials
- Securing and installation of equipment
- Can perform general maintenance tasks such as cleaning, repairing structures
- Operate and care for construction equipment
Qualifications:
- At least 3 year of Health and Safety experience; (construction industry experience an asset)
- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Construction Safety and Health Training and Certification
- Facilitated training classes (asset) or Train the Trainer Certificate
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and relevant regulations e.g., Construction Projects
- Ability to perform physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks
- Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with site staff
- Can lift up to 50lbs/23kg
- Knowledge of construction techniques and materials
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and dexterity to operate tools and machinery effectively
- Proficient in use of technology an asset
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Punctual and reliable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
