Position Description:
The Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) and Antimicrobial Resistance Program within the Communicable and Environmental Diseases and Emergency Preparedness (CEDEP) division of the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is accepting applications for a full-time Epidemiologist 1 position.
This position is currently funded from year to year through CDC cooperative agreements (grants). Some in-state and out of state travel is required.
Job duties will include:
· Performing programmatic activities related to Clostridioides difficile surveillance under the Emerging Infections Program (EIP).
· Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with hospital, clinical laboratory, and long-term care facility personnel.
· Conducting monthly audits at area hospitals, laboratories, and long-term care facilities to ensure Emerging Infections Program pathogens are being reported to the Department of Health.
· Conducting annual surveys of laboratory and long-term care facilities to understand their Clostridioides difficile laboratory testing and treatment practices.
· Performing medical chart reviews for hospitals, outpatient clinics, and long-term care facilities.
· Coordinating the shipment of specimens from the State Public Health Lab to the CDC.
· Participating in data collection, entry, cleaning, and analysis of Clostridioides difficile or other EIP surveillance data.
· Clean and analyze data generated for other HAI projects, such as antimicrobial stewardship.
· Preparing and delivering presentations on project topics, such as CDI, to local, state, and national partners.
· Assisting in the preparation of grant applications, progress reports, scientific articles and presentations, and other deliverables.

Pay: $38.00 - $39.00 per hour
