Minneapolis Radiation Oncology has an opening for a full-time Medical Coder based at our Business Office in Edina. This position is currently training full-time in our office for the first six months and then will have the option to transition to a hybrid schedule working between the Business Office, our clinic locations across the Twin Cities Metro and working remotely from home occasionally.
Primary duties:
- Reviews patient charts to extract accurate codes for the medical billing process
- Reports missing or incomplete documentation, investigates issues thoroughly
- Travels to various clinics to build professional relationships with clinic staff, review documents, transport paperwork
- Follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
- Assists with Prior Authorization process, appeals and other documents if needed
- Provides back-up to other Coders and Compliance Supervisor as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous medical coding experience is given first consideration or minimum of 3 years medical billing/accounts receivable experience
- Solid knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Ability to become a Certified Radiation Oncology Coder within first 2 years
- Ability to drive to different clinic locations and interact professionally with all levels of clinic personnel
- Must be self-motivated, independent, organized and have a strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and contribute as a positive team player is also required
- Previous Radiation Oncology experience is welcomed
- All our positions are required to provide documentation of the annual flu vaccination, or would need to wear a mask during the flu season.
