Job Title: Construction Superintendent (SSHO & CQCM – Federal/VA Projects)

We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent with strong credentials as both Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) and Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM), with a focus on Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) projects.
Position Summary:
The Construction Superintendent will oversee all on-site construction activities and ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all federal, VA, and USACE requirements. This role requires extensive experience serving as SSHO and CQCM on federal projects, particularly with the VA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily on-site construction operations from project start through closeout
- Serve as SSHO, ensuring compliance with EM 385-1-1 and all site safety requirements
- Act as CQCM, implementing and managing the three-phase control system (Preparatory, Initial, Follow-Up)
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel
- Maintain project schedule and proactively address delays
- Conduct daily safety meetings, inspections, and enforce safety protocols
- Prepare and maintain quality control reports, submittals, and documentation
- Interface with government representatives, inspectors, and project stakeholders
- Ensure all work meets contract specifications, drawings, and federal standards
- Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3+ years of construction experience, with at least 5 years on federal projects
- Demonstrated experience as SSHO on projects governed by EM 385-1-1
- Certified Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) for federal projects
- Extensive experience working on VA projects (strongly preferred)
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification (minimum); OSHA 40 preferred
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Strong knowledge of USACE and VA construction standards and processes
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- USACE CQM Certification
- DoD

Duties include:
· Ability to read technical/architectural drawings
· Strong analytical, organizational, communication, problem solving and decision-making skills
· Ability to multitask with attention to detail
· Technically inclined to understand and explain construction project scopes of work
· Be the first person onsite and the last person to leave the site
· Comply with the client’s security procedures.
· Review contract documents and be thoroughly familiar with all job requirements
· Measure, measure. measure everything! Confirm layout, location, and sizes
· Keep the project on schedule, and notify the Project Manager of any schedule problems immediately
· Assist the Project Manager in the monthly schedule update
· Maintain a positive and friendly relationship with the client
· Work with Project Manager on all RFI activities
· Assist Project Manager in tracking long lead time items
· Attend jobsite meetings with owner's representatives
· Ensure subcontractors man the project every day and with adequate forces, notify the-Project Manager of any shortcoming immediately
· Maintain photographic record of the project
· Maintain a clean and orderly job site
· Create and maintain the as-builts drawings at all times
· Assist Project Manager in obtaining the project closeout documentation
· Evaluate the manpower loading for the sub's and our own forces. Take the proper corrective action required to have adequate manpower at the site to keep on schedule.
· Maintain all government requires postings at your site in a location available to all workers

Pay: $75,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
