This position will report directly to the HSE Director. Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant field of study i.e., chemistry or engineering with an Occupational Health & Safety Certification
- Three (3) Years relevant, practical Environmental Occupational Health & Safety work experience required.
- Chemical related manufacturing environment experience preferred.
- Comfortable presenting training to all levels.
- Experience with developing programs for a variety of chemical hazards.
- Experience evaluating and determining PPE requirements and compliance.
- Experience evaluating and determining Industrial Hygiene requirements and compliance.
- Experience evaluating and determining ergonomic improvements.
- Experience creating SDSs and product labels a plus!
- Project and change management experience.
- Comfortable working with and near chemicals.
- Comfortable conforming to high safety and quality standards, requirements and responsibilities.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Comply with all regulations set by OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA, FIFRA, EGLE etc.
- Manage Haviland's Industrial Hygiene program, including employee and facility monitoring, new hazard reviews, and respirator fit testing program.
- Manage Haviland’s chemical safety program including developing, improving, and giving training on chemical hazards such as oxidizers, cyanide, hexavalent chrome, GHS, PPE selection & use.
- Manage Haviland’s ergonomic program including completing risk assessments, training, and recommending improvements.
- Assist engineering with new processes and devices to meet or exceed safety regulations.
- Recognizes and analyzes EHS risks present in the work environment and assists in the development of programs, procedures and/or processes to mitigate risks.
- Develop, implement, train, enforce, review, and update environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, and procedures throughout Haviland Enterprises, Inc. to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Support departmental managers and supervisors in culture improvements and continuous improvements on the shop floor.
- Ability to travel daily between Haviland facilities in GR & Walker, MI.
- Ability to travel out of state approx. 5% annually.
- Regular physical attendance at the worksite is required.
