We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team and provide high-quality therapeutic services to diverse client populations.
Areas of Treatment
The therapist will work with clients experiencing a range of psychological issues, including but not limited to:
- PTSD related to TBI or other traumas
- Anxiety and mood disorders
- Substance use disorders
- Thought and personality disorders
- Depression, relational and adjustment issues
Key Responsibilities
Therapeutic Duties:
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization for clients in psychological distress.
- Assess potential risks such as suicide, abuse/neglect, or safety obstacles; develop and implement individual safety plans as needed.
- Conduct intake assessments and clinical evaluations to identify client/family problems.
- Establish and maintain effective counseling relationships.
- Help clients develop, reach, and maintain treatment plan goals and objectives.
- Utilize diverse individual, group, and family counseling interventions tailored to client needs.
- Monitor and evaluate client progress at regular intervals.
- Provide psycho-education in group settings focused on:
- Life skills
- Coping strategies
- Community reintegration
- Mindfulness
- Brain function education
- Support and mentor interns when needed.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity to diversity.
- Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary clinical team to develop effective treatment strategies.
Documentation Duties:
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with internal and external standards.
- Use computer systems and software for documentation, research, and data management.
- Submit mental health and cognitive therapy records to stakeholders, case managers, supervisors, and directors as required.
- Provide:
- Weekly updates summarizing therapy sessions.
- Billing documentation and mileage/expense reports.
- Weekly activity summaries to the Program Director.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, psychology, counseling or psychiatry with advanced practice credentials in supervision and from an accredited university required.
- Knowledge and experience of issues related to TBI patients.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of the job description.
- Suitable personal appearance, behavior, attitude and integrity.
- Able to problem solve, make decisions, set priorities and document records in an effectively, accurately and orderly manner.
- Current licensure to practice professional social work, psychiatry, counseling or psychology in the State of Michigan.
- Reliable means of transportation; current Michigan’s driver’s license, automobile insurance.
- Has prior work experience with demonstrated competency in job duties.
- Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work effectively within a team approach as well as independently.
- Computer and software literate.
- At least 2 years work experience post Master’s degree preferred.

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
