Position Overview
MBS, LLC is seeking a qualified Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support a construction project in Seward, Alaska. This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance with OSHA standards and ensuring safe work practices on site. The SSHO will oversee day-to-day safety performance, conduct field inspections, and work closely with project management and the MBS Safety Manager to maintain a safe, compliant job site.
This position is project-based, requiring 7 days per week, 8–10 hours per day while work is active. Preferred Local Applicant
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and document daily safety inspections, toolbox talks, and corrective actions.
- Implement and maintain the site-specific safety plan and activity hazard analyses.
- Verify worker and subcontractor compliance with OSHA standards and project safety requirements.
- Support employees and supervisors in meeting regulatory and company safety goals.
- Prepare and submit daily safety reports to the client and MBS management.
- Manage and maintain project safety files, including training records, permits, and inspection logs.
- Act as the on-site safety lead, promoting safe behaviors and addressing hazards proactively.
Qualifications
- 5 years of construction safety experience required.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work extended schedules while the project is active.

Job Type: Contract
Base Pay: $59.00 - $65.00 per hour
