Job Summary:
The Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for creating, implementing, and enforcing safety policies that reduce the risk of accidents on construction sites. This role requires continuous monitoring and updating of safety procedures to comply with current standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
- Conducting safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
- Advising on safety measures and enforcing preventative measures.
- Conducting job safety analyses and identifying problems.
- Recommending corrective action and procedures to hold employees accountable.
- Implementing safety training and education programs.
- Interpreting safety rules, regulations, and standards.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of safety programs.
- Maintaining a log of accidents and injuries and preparing and reviewing accident reports.
- Investigating accidents and addressing staff complaints.
- Developing and training around an emergency response plan.
- Continuous inspection of project sites to ensure a hazard-free environment.
- Assessment and approval of subcontractor safety plans.
- Verification of tools and equipment to ensure they are of good quality.
- Carrying out drills and exercises on managing emergency situations.
- Verifying that all safety reports are submitted to related government institutions.
- Responding to workers’ safety concerns promptly and effectively.
- Managing all communications with government departments regarding safety issues.
- Arranging OSHA-mandated evaluations of the site and coordinating all issues related to hazardous materials or waste.
- Assisting with the preparation of a construction health and safety plan.
- Attending project planning meetings and collaborating with construction managers.
- Establishing and maintaining health and safety communication structures.
- Testing the effectiveness of site emergency response plans.
- Continuous monitoring of all safety-related documents, reports, and issues to keep them updated.
- Assisting with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Safety Director and Safety Admin Manager.
Requirements:
- Valid competency certificates.
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Registration as a Health and Safety Officer.
- Strong communication skills.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Applications.
- Bachelor’s degree or an associate degree preferred.
