FOOD HANDLER
Summary of Position:
The food handler plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe preparation, handling, and serving of food items in accordance with established health and safety standards. This position involves various tasks related to food preparation, sanitation, and customer service within a food service establishment.
Accountabilities:
- Prepare and assemble food items according to standardized recipes and portion sizes.
- Follow proper food handling, good manufacturing procedures (GMPs), and safety procedures to prevent contamination and ensure food quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation and service areas, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
- Monitor food temperatures during storage, cooking, and serving to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies and ingredients to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
- Check the labels and packaging materials prior to the start up of operations and fill up the form and sign.
- Adhere to hygiene and sanitation standards, including proper handwashing, glove usage, and personal grooming.
- Assist in stocking and replenishing inventory as needed to support daily operations.
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service, including taking orders, processing payments, and addressing customer inquiries or concerns.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including those related to COVID-19 protocols, to protect both customers and staff.
- Do other tasks as assigned by his superiors and Quality Assurance from time to time.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Food handlers may need to be able to stand for long periods, walk around the kitchen or serving area, and move quickly between tasks.
- Food handlers often need good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to handle utensils, equipment, and food safely and efficiently.
- Some tasks in food service, such as lifting heavy pots or trays, carrying supplies, or standing for extended periods, may require strength and endurance.
- Food handlers may need to bend, stoop, reach, and stretch to access ingredients, equipment, or storage areas. May be required to lift heavy objects but not more than 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- In food manufacturing facilities, food handlers work in production lines where food products are processed, packaged, and labeled. This environment often requires adherence to strict safety and sanitation protocols.

Requirements:
Qualifications and Skills:
- Understanding of basic food safety principles, including proper handwashing techniques,
- Adherence to personal hygiene standards, such as wearing clean uniforms, using hair restraints, and maintaining trimmed fingernails.
- Proficiency in food preparation techniques, including slicing, dicing, chopping, marinating, and cooking various types of food items.
- Ability to handle knives safely and efficiently to prepare ingredients accurately and quickly.
- Awareness of common food allergens and how to prevent cross-contact during food preparation and service.
- Familiarity with the menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to accurately answer customer inquiries and make recommendations.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitization procedures for kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Basic understanding of inventory control practices, such as monitoring stock levels, rotating perishable items, and minimizing waste.
- Compliance with local health regulations and food safety standards to prevent foodborne illness and ensure public health safety.
