Summary/Objective:
The EHS Leader is a member of the Staff and reports directly to the President of the company. This role is responsible for providing leadership to the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Facilities, Maintenance, and Moonshine teams (FMM), which include functions such as, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygienist, Safety Professionals, Facilities, Maintenance and Moonshine teams. This is a critical leadership role that will use high level of judgement, experience and knowledge to make decisions, and handle complex tasks. The EHS leader will lead cross-functionally by promoting and fostering a culture of SAFETY.
The EHS Leader will oversee and drive EHS/FMM programs, goals and objectives for the company, including Security. Recommend and drive measures to reduce or eliminate industrial accident and health hazards proactively. This role will interpret internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve, operations, processes, services, infrastructure, Security, etc. to ensure everyone’s Safety and Health. The role will also be the focal point of contact for external regulatory agencies. Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and other regulatory agencies. The EHS Leader will facilitate and support the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and maintain status.
Essential Functions:
- Staff member- advise company president and leaders to ensure business goals/priorities are met;
- Lead and support the EHS, Maintenance, Facilities, and Moonshine teams;
- Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision;
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, TECQ etc.);
- Provides and influences programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, the use of protective equipment, etc.;
- Implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards;
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards and mitigate risk effectively;
- Track incident metrics, apply findings and come up with solutions via problem solving methodologies;
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines/regulations;
- Lead injury and incident inquiries and evaluations; document findings and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee the applications for and receipt of necessary permits;
- Conduct and coordinate safety inspections;
- Lead Site Security measures;
- Develop & produce required regulatory reports;
- Develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure;
- Engage with employees, addressing EHS concerns, and promoting a mindset where safety is a shared responsibility;
- Work with cross-functional teams and external vendors to solve issues;
- Understand Export Regulations

Required Education and Experience:
- BS or equivalent in related science/engineering and 7 years of experience; Ability to train, influence and motivate team members;
Preferred Education/Certifications:
- CSP, CHMM certifications desirable
