Safety Specialist
Glovis Georgia, is an integrated logistics company located in West Point, Georgia. We provide Tier 1 logistic, warehousing and inventory services to Kia Motors Manufacturing. We currently have an opening for a Safety Specialist.
Responsibilities Include:
- Weekly Safety Audits. (Creates reports for audit results and action plans.)
- Ensures all fire systems are operations and all PM is performed as required.
- Conducts Safety Training for New Hire
- Maintains first aid and medical supplies
- Coordinates and participates in annual First Aid/CPR and AED Training
- Conducts Drug Testing as needed. Maintains Georgia Drug Free Workplace certification (included conducting any required training).
- Performs accident investigations to determine root causes and corrective measures.
- Post and distributes all Safety and Near Miss Alerts
- Maintains filing system of all medical incidents along with e-mail documentation, written narratives and compilation of all witness statements.
- Performs annual storm water discharge report.
- Maintains Spill Prevention Containment and Countermeasure plans for on-site diesel tank.
- Maintain spill kits and materials for hazardous materials response on site.
- Updates Safety Data Sheets in written and electronic format.
- Update Safety Plan on annual basis to include all pertinent operations procedures.
- Assist in the writing of all Safety Policies and Guidelines.
- Distribute copies of plan to all management and maintain copies written and/or in digital format for all Team Members.
- Verify compliance with proper hot work permitting procedures for each incident.
- Post and distribute Monthly Safety topic on boards and email to all supervisors.
- Prepare annual schedule of safety topics and training to support each topic
- Maintain monthly log for fire protection systems (riser conditions, supply and system pressures.
- Complete monthly reports.
- Tracks Safety activities on Monthly KPI Safety Board.
- Prepares documentation for Weekly Manager's Meeting
- Maintains OSHA 300 Log
- Reports all Worker's Compensation Injuries to Insurance Carrier
- Tracks Worker's Compensation visits and work status of Team Members
- Support 1S014001 and ISO45001 Certification.
MINIMUM SKILLS:
- 3 - 5 Years Experience in a Safety Specialist Role
- BS or BA Degree (but will consider experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company)
- Experience with ISO14001 and ISO45001 Implementation
- OSHA 10 Hour Certification (30 Hour preferred).
- Experience with Worker's Compensation Claim management
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint including the ability to download payroll data into Excel to generate complex reports
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, including weekends.
- Must be available after hours to respond to medical emergencies.
- Proven ability to prioritize and work through multiple projects within a timely manner.
- Must be able to function and adapt to an every changing environment.
- Advanced communications, critical thinking, planning and organization skills.
