Responsibilities:
RADIOLOGY AND PATIENT ACCESS
Serves as initial patient contact, initiates patient record and account and prepares patient for imaging procedure. Greets patients and families in a welcoming and caring manner, courteously assists callers with information and directions.
Compiles patient records and prints schedule in preparation for daily appointments. Pre-registers patients as time allows if applicable.
Interviews, verifies, and performs accurate data entry of patient demographics, insurance coding, and medical information to ensure integrity of records and minimize claims denials if applicable.
Educates patients and maintains compliance with Medicare Secondary Payer guidelines through accurate completion of questionnaire for every appropriate patient encounter,
and with HIPAA privacy regulations and acknowledgements if applicable.
Accepts up front payments and provides appropriate patient receipts. Ensures proper transport and documentation is provided to Accounting if applicable.
Prepares for patient Radiology procedure through accurate test order entry, preparation opatient Radiology jacket, and verification of appropriate documentation and questionnaires.
Escorts patients to testing area as needed and provides directions as applicable. Monitors patient wait times ensuring patients are seen with 15 minutes and communication as to delays, status of procedure, etc. occurs.
Manages outside film “check in”. Performs systems “check out” of films and prepares for transport if applicable.
Orders and stocks supplies and forms. Maintains appropriate inventories to ensureadequate par levels.
Maintains competency in multiple information systems programs, keeps abreast of ongoing changes, and maintains flexibility inherent in performance of job.
Sustains optimal patient focus while performing job duties in a manner which conveys respect and dignity to the patients and patients’ families. Manages complaint handling and service recovery in a professional manner.
Faxes Radiology reports to the appropriate physician after batch printing and upon request if applicable.
Coordinates same day add-ons via scheduling or the physician’s office to include initiating pre-certification if applicable.
Reviews, prepares, and forwards patient information to be retained in the hospital medical record in a timely manner if applicable.
Assists clinical staff with safe patient handling as needed.
Performs Clinical Decision Support processes as assigned to include but not limited to daily reporting, physician order input in web based portal and proper documentation of decision support criteria in radiology systems.
Qualifications:
- Medical terminology
- One (1) year previous medical related clerical or related experience or an associate’s degree.
- Good communication skills
- Typing requirements vary by department; see requisition for requirements.
- Fundamental knowledge and skill in utilization of computer application.
- Level of proficiency in the use and application of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) varies by department, see requisition for requirements.
Preferred:
- Three (3) years previous experience in admissions or a scheduling environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Proficient in computerized input of data
