The State Group is seeking a Safety Manager to lead the safety function in based in our Welch and Rushe Division in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Welch and Rushe have been in operation for over 50 years as a full-service mechanical company specializing in comprehensive HVAC and plumbing construction services.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Promote a positive and proactive safety culture through behaviors and actions.
- Review and update written programs, audits, and accident investigations.
- Track incident metrics and trends and apply findings.
- Manage worker’s compensation incidents in a confidential manner that meets the needs of the employee and the company.
- Communicate and collaborate with business partners, regulatory agencies, and employees regarding safety requirements and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards.
- Communicate issues, trends, regulatory updates, and training materials to employees, leadership, and direct reports.
- Responsible for the development and performance management of direct reports.
WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM
- 7+ years of safety experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
- A bachelor's degree in safety or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Broad and detailed regulatory, training, inspection, and auditing knowledge.
- Experience in the construction or manufacturing industry is required.
- Basic knowledge of compliance relating to DOT, MSHA and other federal regulations is preferred.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, able to manage priorities.
- Ability to professionally manage a fast-paced environment.
- A demonstrated commitment to upholding the organization’s core values through professionalism and leadership.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially when interacting with senior leaders and customers.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed during periods of shutdown or peak activity.
