We're forecasting the U.S. market for a human West Nile virus vaccine and a seasonal West Nile monoclonal antibody under a CDC contract. We need a health economist to own the economics.
What you'll do
- Build coverage and uptake models for both products: who would get them, and how many
- Analyze pricing and reimbursement, and who pays
- Build return-on-investment and cost scenarios with sensitivity analysis
- Work with our epidemiologist on the demand model
- Lead-author one peer-reviewed manuscript and brief CDC scientists on results
Required
- Master's or doctorate in health economics, health policy, economics, public health or a related field
- Hands-on cost, cost-effectiveness, budget-impact or return-on-investment modeling
- Strong analysis in R, SAS, Stata, Python or TreeAge
- U.S.-based and able to commit about 6 hours a week for 12 months
Preferred
- Work for or with CDC, HHS or another federal health agency
- Vaccine or biologics economics, market forecasting, or pricing and reimbursement work
- Peer-reviewed publications

We need a doctoral epidemiologist who knows vector-borne disease to lead the epidemiology.
What you'll do
- Lead the review of West Nile epidemiology: incidence, neuroinvasive disease, age and risk groups, seasonality and geography
- Build the model of who would need each product and how many people that is, by year and region
- Work with our health economist on uptake and demand scenarios
- Co-author the final report and one peer-reviewed manuscript
- Brief CDC scientists on the method and results
Required
- PhD, DrPH or equivalent doctorate in epidemiology or a closely related field
- Research or public health work on vector-borne or arboviral disease (West Nile, dengue, Zika, other mosquito- or tick-borne disease)
- Strong analysis and modeling in R, SAS or Python
- U.S.-based and able to commit about 15 hours a week for 12 months
Preferred
- A peer-reviewed publication on West Nile or another arbovirus
- CDC experience: ORISE or CDC fellowship, EIS, or CDC contract work
- Epidemiologist at a state or local health department
- Vaccine or biologics research, forecasting, or health economics exposure
