As we continue to grow, we're preparing to open a new office in the Frisco/Plano area by the end of the year. We're looking for an experienced Safety Training Manager to join our Education team and help deliver practical, engaging safety education for equipment and event rental professionals throughout North America.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Director of Education, the Safety Training Manager develops and delivers practical safety education that helps ARA members create safer workplaces and strengthen their safety practices.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced safety professional who knows how to make safety practical, engaging, and relevant. You may come from workplace safety, construction, equipment rental, manufacturing, industrial operations, or another safety-focused environment.
The ideal candidate enjoys teaching others, building relationships, and translating safety standards and real-world experience into practical training that people can use on the job.
We also welcome experienced safety professionals with a background in the fire service. Experience as a professional or volunteer firefighter, particularly in safety training, emergency response or public safety education, is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Senior Director of Education to identify member training needs and support ARA's safety education offerings
- Travel extensively to ARA member locations to deliver practical, hands-on safety training and educational sessions. This role requires approximately 5–7 days of travel per month by air or car, typically out-of-state, with occasional international travel to Canada
- Create, design and update ARA's safety presentations and related educational materials
- Apply OSHA regulations and industry best practices to help ensure training content is accurate, practical, and relevant. Knowledge of ANSI standards is preferred
- Serve as a subject-matter expert to members by answering questions and connecting them with ARA safety resources and educational opportunities
- Gather participant feedback and recommend improvements to future training sessions
- Partner with internal teams to promote safety education programs and increase member engagement
- Represent ARA professionally at member meetings, conferences, trade shows, and other industry events
- Stay current on OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and industry best practices to help keep ARA's safety education materials up to date
- Support additional education initiatives and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Education, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Four or more years of experience in workplace safety, safety training, education, or a related field
- Prior professional or volunteer firefighting experience, particularly with experience in safety training, emergency response, hazard recognition classes, or public safety education.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, including general and equipment workplace safety principles
- Previous experience in equipment rental, construction, manufacturing, industrial operations, transportation, agriculture, or another related industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills: candidates should be able to communicate safety concepts in a practical, relatable way and be comfortable presenting and facilitating training for groups of varying sizes
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms: and be willing to learn new technology, including AI tools, to enhance training development and delivery
- Ability to travel up to 50%, including commercial air travel and driving a rental car; a valid driver's license is required
- Safety-related certifications (OSHA Outreach Trainer, ASP, CSP, CHST, or similar) are preferred, or willing to start the certification process within 6 months
- Must be comfortable working at heights and in elevated environments as required for training and demonstrations
Schedule & Travel
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CT.
You'll work as a fully remote team member until we open our new office in the Frisco/Plano area, anticipated in Q4-2026. Once the office opens, this role will transition to an in-office setting when you are not traveling.
Business Travel: This is a travel-intensive role requiring up to 50% travel. Travel includes visiting member locations to deliver safety training, attending conferences, trade shows, and association events, as well as periodic travel to ARA's Illinois office for meetings and collaboration. Travel will primarily involve out of state, overnight stays and will include occasional evening or weekend work based on the training schedule. You'll be responsible for planning and coordinating the logistics for your training sessions and business travel.
