Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Therapist specializing in Youth Behavioral Health for a contract position in a Monday - Thursday Afterschool program. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and adolescents facing behavioral and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in clinical therapy, case management, and specialized interventions tailored to youth populations. This position emphasizes collaborative care within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring comprehensive support for clients and their families.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to evaluate the mental health and behavioral needs of youth clients.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and trauma-informed care.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to address issues including behavioral management, gender issues, PTSD, autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and other mental health concerns.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to manage acute behavioral or emotional episodes safely and effectively.
- Collect and document clinical data accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Collaborate with families, schools, and community agencies to coordinate care and support systems for clients.
- Monitor progress through ongoing patient assessment and adjust treatment strategies accordingly.
- Maintain detailed medical records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to all privacy policies.
- Participate in case management activities, including discharge planning and follow-up care coordination.
- Engage in continuous professional development related to behavioral health innovations, special education needs, working with individuals with disabilities, and other relevant areas.
Requirements
- Proven experience in home & community care settings, social work, or behavioral health services with children or adolescents.
- Strong knowledge of data collection methods, medical terminology, patient care protocols, and mental health diagnostic evaluation tools.
- Expertise in applied behavior analysis (ABA), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), crisis management, motivational interviewing, art therapy, and other therapeutic modalities listed above.
- Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, PTSD care needs, or special education environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical records management is essential.
- Ability to perform patient assessments accurately while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Excellent case management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple services effectively.
- Strong conflict management skills along with crisis intervention capabilities.
- Experience working within diverse populations addressing gender issues counseling or working with people with disabilities is preferred.
