Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to lead and advance our EHS strategy across multiple manufacturing locations. This role will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, driving a strong safety culture, and maintaining ISO-based management systems in a tire mold manufacturing environment. The position requires approximately 40% travel to support operations, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive EHS policies aligned with industry standards such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and workers' compensation law.
- Lead and maintain ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) management systems.
- Support integration with ISO 9001 where applicable.
- Lead incident investigations by conducting root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations through regular audits, inspections, and report writing.
- Design and deliver engaging training programs on topics including first aid, CPR, OSHA standards, hazard communication, and occupational health best practices to empower employees with vital safety knowledge.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims with HR and process efficiently while maintaining detailed records and documentation for legal compliance.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by conducting regular safety audits, risk assessments, and fostering open communication about hazards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop emergency response plans, including first aid procedures and evacuation protocols.
- Stay current on evolving environmental laws such as EPA regulations and industry best practices to ensure organizational adherence and sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Ability to travel approximately 40% domestically
- 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Demonstrated experience leading ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state EHS regulations
- Experience in metal machining, mold manufacturing, rubber, or heavy industrial operations preferred
- Proven experience in manufacturing environments with a strong understanding of occupational health standards and safety management systems.
- Certifications in CPR, first aid, OSHA training (such as OSHA 30-hour or 500-hour courses), and familiarity with EPA regulations are highly preferred.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation law processes along with experience managing related report writing and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis effectively to resolve safety issues promptly.
- Strong training & development skills to educate staff at all levels on safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication skills for report writing, presenting findings, and collaborating across departments.
Preferred Certifications
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
CIH, CHMM, or equivalent EHS certification
- ISO Lead Auditor certification (45001/14001
