Safirst Safety Consulting is the outsourced safety department for construction, manufacturing, and industrial operations across the Southwest. We keep job sites compliant, crews protected, and GCs out of trouble. We're expanding coverage into New Mexico and need a sharp field consultant to run point on a project in Los Alamos.
The Role
You'll be the boots-on-the-ground safety presence for a construction project in Los Alamos. This is a short-term contract tied to project duration. You'll support the GC and subcontractors with daily safety oversight — not a desk job, not a paperwork-only role. We need someone who can walk a site, spot hazards, coach crews, and handle issues before they become incidents.
What You'll Do
- Conduct 2 or 3 safety inspections on site per week
- Lead 1 monthly site-wide safety stand down per month
- Enforce OSHA 1926 construction standards and project-specific safety plans
- Support subcontractor compliance — PPE, fall protection, fire protection, hot work, scaffolding, excavation
- Document inspections, incidents, near-misses, and corrective actions
- Coordinate with the GC superintendent and Safirst leadership in Phoenix
- Respond to incidents and manage first-aid / injury response protocols
What We're Looking For
- Real construction safety experience — we value field time over alphabet soup
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926
- Ability to hold your ground with crews and supers while keeping relationships intact
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- OSHA 30 is helpful but not required — tell us what you've actually done
- Must be able to work on-site in Los Alamos for the project duration
- Reliable transportation and willingness to build relationships and drive a great safety culture
