About the Role
The Health and Safety Manager oversees all safety programs for Maui Plumbing Inc., ensuring compliance with OSHA, HIOSH, and construction standards across all job sites. This role leads training, conducts field audits, investigates incidents, and partners with leadership to uphold a strong safety culture rooted in our core values: Integrity, Teamwork, Consistency of Effort, and Pride in Work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine job-site inspections and identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and compliance gaps across plumbing, lining, and fire projects.
- Lead safety training including orientations, OSHA topics, PPE use, ladder/trench safety, confined space awareness, and job-specific hazard training.
- Maintain and update company safety policies, JHAs, SDS library, and OSHA/HIOSH documentation.
- Respond to accidents, injuries, and near misses; perform root-cause analysis and create corrective action plans.
- Support leadership with safety planning for high-risk tasks, mobilizations, and multi-crew project coordination.
- Track safety metrics, maintain OSHA 300 logs, and report trends to HR and Operations.
- Promote a positive safety culture and reinforce Maui Plumbing’s core values through coaching and accountability.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in construction or industrial safety (plumbing/mechanical trades preferred).
- OSHA 30 Construction required; additional certifications (e.g., OSHA Trainer, First Aid/CPR Instructor, CHST/CSST/CSHM) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910 & 1926, HIOSH regulations, NFPA/ANSI standards.
- Experience performing job-site audits, writing JHAs, and leading safety investigations.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and coaching skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites daily.Preferred Experience
- Background in plumbing, lining, mechanical, or fire systems safety.
- Experience with trenching/excavation, confined spaces, hot work, and heavy equipment interfaces.
Success in This Role Looks Like
- Completing thorough jobsite inspections and documenting findings clearly before leaving the site.
- Building strong working relationships with field crews while confidently addressing unsafe conditions.
- Following through on safety initiatives, inspections, and corrective actions until they are fully resolved
- Maintaining organized safety documentation, reports, and training records that support company compliance.
- Working collaboratively with HR and Operations to continuously improve MPI’s safety program.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
